omg, the funniest stuff read all day. and only reason why its on there to begin with is because someone must of been stupid enough to try it and then rich enough to bring it to when it resulted in disaster.

Natural gas is a lot less expensive than heating oil. So, it would be a good idea to heat your house with natural gas since you do have that available. But, you will have to replace your existing furnace with one that burns natural gas. You will also have to plumb a new gas line to your new furnace also. That may not be that big of a deal though. it just depends upon where you can get a connection from the existing gas line that you have. Good luck.

What your first thing to do is get someone to look at this problem. If you lived in Maryland, be more than happy to drive a few miles to advise you one this one. We do it by phone or over the email. But, if water pump is going, then you need to look at where the water pump is located on the engine block and see if you have water on the ground in that spot and make sure its the water pump and not a radiator hose, etc.

I have lived in areas of the county, some of which had natural gas heat, and some with oil as gas was not available. I hated the oil and I prefer Natural gas.

Having Natural gas already installed to your home will save a little money compared to changing over to gas without, as a plumber would have to install all the necessary interior lines. However, you will still need to have a plumber or gas appliance tech install a line from your existing gas piping system to the location for your new gas furnace. Therefore, the savings will be small, but I think a natural gas fired, forced air furnace system will be a great improvement over the oil system.

Also, I agree with you that gas heat will be more attractive when you decide to sell your home.

If you smell gas, call the gas company again. They will shut water heater off again. The water heaters should not have been turned back on unless they have been properly repaired and inspected.

The landlord is playing with fire … literally.

The gas line must be sized properly for the appliances connected. Chances are that it will have to be changed to accommodate the new furnace. So depend on that to reduce the costs.
The gas furnace will likely be cheaper than a new oil furnace plus savings in heating costs with gas should steer you away from the fuel oil.

gas vs oil. more btus it a therm of oil. oil takes alot more maintenance then gas. oil also is a unregulated commodity. gas prices are regulated so they don.t go up and down as much. now for the pro opinion. I would put in gas cleaner,safer and less maintenance. plus no tank to leak. no oil to order or keep track of. good luck

Yes it is leaking. There should be a water shut off knob connected to one of the tubes at the top. Shut off water above heater, then you need to shut off the gas on the little box towards the bottom with the big knob, or turn off electricity in breaker box if you dont have a gas heater. Call a repair person to determine if it is your heater or a hose.

heater matrix …. i would say ..its a big job , radiator matrix costs about 50 pounds , but its the labour charge thats expensive cus the dash has to be removed to gain access to matrix could be as much as 100 pounds best of luck !

Yes, as the previous answers have stated, I believe you have a bad heater core, or a deteriorated connection at the heater core. If your heater core, or one of the hose connections near it has gone, that would explain your loss of fluid. The fact that you flow fluid to your heater core and you do not see any coolant under the vehicle indicated that your water pump is likely still good, in my opinion, but been wrong before.

As others have stated, it is possible to bypass your heater provided you do not want to use it. I can send you an e-mail explaining how to do this, it is actually very simple usually.

at home right now, but tomorrow I can look up what the book hours are for that job and maybe give you a little idea of what be looking at to do it.

A heater core can cost alot to replace it is alot of work but it is almost summer so you can bypass till winter if needed. Call some shops and get estimates that way you know what your looking at.
